In this tutorial, we use a simple house pricing CSV file as our sample data to learn how to create a line chart in Apache Superset. Instead of complex sales data, we work with basic columns like date and house price.
We start by uploading or querying the CSV data. Then we write a simple query to group the data by date and calculate the average or total house price per day. After running the query, we save it as a dataset.
Next, we create a line chart by selecting the date column as the X-axis and the house price as the Y-axis. This helps us clearly see how house prices change over time.
Finally, we customize the chart title and save it. By the end, you’ll understand how to quickly turn simple CSV data into a meaningful trend visualization.

Step 1: Upload house_prices.csv file to Superset.
Data -> Upload CSV to database
· Upload CSV file
· Select Database, Schema name where you want to import this csv file
· Give table name as house_prices.
Click on Upload button.
After successfully uploading the CSV file, navigate to the Datasets listing page, where you will see that the house_prices dataset has been created.
Step 2: Create Line Chart.
Navigate to charts listing page.
Click on ‘+ Chart’ button to create the chart.
Choose the dataset as ‘house_prices’, select Line Chart and click on ‘Create new chart’ button.
You will be taken to the chart configuration page.
Drag and drop date column to X-axis.
Drag and drop price column to Metrics, and select aggregate function.
Save the metrics changes, click on Create chart button.
You can see the chart like below.
Give some name to the chart and save, that’s it you are done…
