Cassandra: USE KEYSPACE: Use specific key space

‘USE KEYSPACE’ command is used to tell the CASSANDRA, use this keyspace for the current user session.

Example

USE cassandratutorial;

Step 1: Create a keyspace ‘cassandratutorial’.

CREATE keyspace cassandratutorial WITH REPLICATION = 
{ 
 'class' : 'SimpleStrategy', 
 'replication_factor' : 1 
};

Step 2: Notify Cassandra, that you would like to use the keyspace ‘cassandratutorial’ for this session.

cqlsh> USE cassandratutorial;
cqlsh:cassandratutorial>

Step 3: Create a table employee.

CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS employee (

  id INT,

  firstName VARCHAR,

  PRIMARY KEY((id, firstName))
