Gephi: Working with Data Laboratory window


You can view the information about nodes, edges in the Data Laboratory view.

You can perform below things in Data Laboratory view.
         a. You can view the details about a node, edit the node label
         b. You can check the edges and update the weightage of the edge
         c. You can add new nodes to the graph.
         d. You can add new edges to the graph.
         e. You can export the graph information as csv file
         f. you can import information from spreadsheet etc.,

When you open a graph in Gephi user interface, you can able to see below windows.
a.   Overviw window
b.   Data Laboratory window
c.    Preview Window

‘Data Laboratory’ view looks like below.


Nodes tab
Nodes column gives you the information about node id and label. By default, node id and label are same. You can edit the node label.


At the bottom of the Nodes tab, you can able to see number of widgets to add new column, merge columns, clear columns, copy data from one column to other column, fill column with a value, duplicate a column etc.,

Edges tab
Edges tab gives more information about the graph. Below table summarizes the columns of Edges tab.

Column
Description
Source
Source node of this edge
Target
Target node of this edge.
Type
Type of the edge, it can be Directed (edge has direction), or can be undirected.
Id
Edge id.
Label
Label associated with this edge
Interval

Weight
Strength of the relationship between two nodes.



Configuration tab
You can configure time intervals, time zone, interval, and labels in this window.

Click on ‘Configuration tab, you can able to see below kind of window.


Add node and Add edge
There are two buttons to add new node and new edge to the graph.



Remaining tabs are self-explanatory.
