Single Factor Authentication (SFA)


Single factor Authentication (SFA) is a common security process, required username and password to give access to the user for emails, computers, printers, shared resources etc.,

The primary problem with SFA is, most of the users don’t know how to set strong passwords for their accounts. Using Dictionary attack, Brute force attack, attacker can easily break passwords like simple names, numbers, city names etc.  

SplashData has announced its annual list of the 25 most common passwords found on the Internet. As per SplashData 123456, password, 12345 are the top worst passwords, that most of the people using. So every organization must train their employees to select stronger passwords for their accounts.

Many attackers use the information available on social sites to crack user password. So employee should make sure that, there is no relation between his/her passwords with social data.

For systems which require higher security, go for two-factor or multi factor authentication schemes.
