Quick Introduction to Gray scale images

Gray scale image is created by converting every pixel in a color image to a single value between 0 and 255. Following table summarizes the value and respective color.

 

Value	Color
0	Black
1	Very dark gray
2	Dark gray
3	Medium gray
4	Light gray
5	Very light gray
255	White

 

The remaining 241 shades of gray are evenly spaced between black and white. Human eye can’t distinguish 256 shades of gray, some some color codes appear to be same color for human eye.
