You can
model relationships by embedding one document in other.
For
example,
public class Address {
private String city;
private String country;
......
......
}
@Document("employees")
public class Employee {
@Id
private String id;
private String firstName;
private String lastName;
private Address address;
.......
.......
}
As you see
above snippet, I embedded Address object in Employee entity.
Single
Employee Document looks like below.
{ "_id" : ObjectId("5d5184a25d30d03bc47528d7"), "firstName" : "Phalgun", "lastName" : "Garimella", "address" : { "city" : "Bangalore", "country" : "India" }, "_class" : "com.sample.app.entity.Employee" }
Find the
below working application.
Address.java
package com.sample.app.entity;
public class Address {
private String city;
private String country;
public Address(String city, String country) {
super();
this.city = city;
this.country = country;
}
public String getCity() {
return city;
}
public void setCity(String city) {
this.city = city;
}
public String getCountry() {
return country;
}
public void setCountry(String country) {
this.country = country;
}
@Override
public String toString() {
StringBuilder builder = new StringBuilder();
builder.append("Address [city=").append(city).append(", country=").append(country).append("]");
return builder.toString();
}
}
Employee.java
package com.sample.app.entity;
import org.springframework.data.annotation.Id;
import org.springframework.data.mongodb.core.mapping.Document;
@Document("employees")

private String lastName;
private Address address;
public Employee(String firstName, String lastName, Address address) {
this.firstName = firstName;
this.lastName = lastName;

}
public String getId() {
return id;
}
public void setId(String id) {
this.id = id;
}
public String getFirstName() {

}
public void setFirstName(String firstName) {

}
public String getLastName() {

}
public void setLastName(String lastName) {
this.lastName = lastName;
}
public Address getAddress() {

public void setAddress(Address address) {

}
@Override
public String toString() {
StringBuilder builder = new StringBuilder();
builder.append("Employee [id=").append(id).append(", firstName=").append(firstName).append(", lastName=")
.append(lastName).append(", address=").append(address).append("]");
return builder.toString();
}

Total
project structure looks like below.
Run
App.java, you can see below messages in console.
Employee [id=5d5186b25d30d03be93d9f32, firstName=Phalgun, lastName=Garimella, address=Address [city=Bangalore, country=India]] Employee [id=5d5186b25d30d03be93d9f33, firstName=Sankalp, lastName=Dubey, address=Address [city=Hyderabad, country=India]] Employee [id=5d5186b25d30d03be93d9f34, firstName=Arpan, lastName=Debroy, address=Address [city=Chennai, country=India]]
Connect to
mongo shell and execute the mongo command 'db.employees.find().pretty()' to
confirm that the documents are created.
> db.employees.find().pretty()
