Gephi: selectors painter, brusher, sizer


In this post, I am going to explain the group of icons, that are available at the left margin of the display area.



 Direct Selection Arrow


By using arrow, you can select any node in the diagram. When you select a node in the diagram, it highlights the nodes, where this node has direct connections.



For example, you can observe above diagram, all the non-related nodes are not highlighted.
 : Rectangle area widget


By using this, you can draw a rectangle of any size over the diagram.


 : Drag tool


By using this you can drag a node in the graph window.

For example, select the drag tool, click on any node and drag it.


 : Painter tool


It is used to recolor selected nodes.

Click on the painter tool, it enables the color widget.

Click on Color widget to choose a color.


You can choose a color from ‘Choose a Color’ window.

Now, select any node in the graph, you can observe that node and all the connected nodes of that node are highlighted with this color.


 : Sizer tool

By using this, you can increase/decrease the node size.

Select the node and move mouse up to increase the size of the node.
Select the node and move the mouse down to decrease the size of the node.



 : Brush tool



By using this tool, you can highlight all the nodes that have direct relationship with this node.

Select brush tool, select any node in the graph, you can able to see all the direct nodes of selected node clearly.
